MODELS:1990-94 CHEVROLET G VANS BUILT PRIOR TO VIN BREAKPOINT RF173289 1990-94 GMC TRUCK G VANS BUILT PRIOR TO VIN BREAKPOINT RF531052 WITH GAS ENGINES ONLY (VINS Z,H,K,N - RPOS LB4, L03, L05, L19)

GMC TRUCK AND CHEVROLET HAVE RECENTLY RELEASED A HIGH EFFICIENCY AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER. STARTING ON 1995 FULL SIZE VANS, THIS NEW TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER WILL BE STANDARD ON ALL GAS ENGINES. THIS NEW AIR TO OIL COOLER OFFERS EXCELLENT COOLING ABILITY ESPECIALLY WHEN DRIVING WITH HEAVY LOADS OR TOWING.

BECAUSE THE HIGH EFFICIENCY OFFERED BY THIS COOLER EXCEEDS MANY AFTER MARKET COOLERS, GENERAL MOTORS IS OFFERING IT IN KIT FORM FOR DEALER INSTALLATION. THIS COOLER MAY BE INSTALLED ON BOTH NEW AND USED VEHICLES THAT ARE IN APPLICATIONS WHICH CREATE HIGHER TRANSMISSION OPERATING TEMPERATURES.

THE TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER LISTED IN THIS BULLETIN HAS BEEN THOROUGHLY TESTED BY GENERAL MOTORS, AND WAS DESIGNED FOR INSTALLATION ON ALL G VAN GAS ENGINES. THE COOLER IS DESIGNED FOR INSTALLATION ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE JUST FORWARD OF THE A/C CONDENSER AND RADIATOR. THE TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER KIT INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:

- COOLER W/ATTACHING BRACKET - CLAMPS - HOSE ASSEMBLIES - FASTENERS - INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT WHEN USING THE TRANSMISSION AIR TO OIL COOLER, DEXRON(R) III BE USED IN THE TRANSMISSION. THIS FLUID OFFERS IMPROVED LOW TEMPERATURE VISCOSITY AND HIGHER TEMPERATURE OXIDATION STABILITY. AN ADDITIONAL 1.25 PINT OF TRANSMISSION FLUID SHOULD BE ADDED TO COMPENSATE THE CAPACITY OF THE COOLER.

IMPORTANT: THE G VAN TRANSMISSION AIR-TO-OIL COOLER IS SIMILAR IN EFFICIENCY AS THE C/K AND P CHASSIS TRANSMISSION AIR-TO- OIL COOLER. HOWEVER, THE KITS ARE NOT INTERCHANGEABLE AND SHOULD ONLY BE USED ON THE PROPER MODEL LINES.
