J 24319-B Universal Steering Linkage Puller

Removal Procedure

Notice: When lifting the vehicle do not allow the jack to touch the rear steering gear. If the jack touches the rear steering gear you may damage the gear or the rack and pinion boots. If the boots are damaged replace the rack and pinion boot.

  1. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  2. Remove the outer tie rod retaining nut (1).

  3. Object Number: 742247  Size: SH
  4. Loosen the tie rod jam nut (1).
  5. Remove the nut retaining the outer tie rod end to the steering knuckle.

  6. Object Number: 742180  Size: SH
  7. Using the J 24319-B (1), remove the outer tie rod end from the steering knuckle.
  8. Remove the outer tie rod end from the inner tie rod.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1493050  Size: SH
  1. Install the outer tie rod end to the inner tie rod.
  2. Install the outer tie rod end to the steering knuckle.
  3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  4. Install the outer tie rod retaining nut (1).
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 55 N·m (40 lb ft).

  6. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  7. Perform a four wheel alignment. Refer to Wheel Alignment Measurement in Wheel Alignment.
