Removal Procedure

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the cylinder head and the gasket from the engine. Refer to Cylinder Head Replacement .

  3. Object Number: 63230  Size: SH
  4. Remove the valve lifter(s) and the guide(s) from the engine. Refer to Valve Lifter Removal
  5. Clean and inspect all parts. Refer to Valve Lifters and Guides Clean and Inspect

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 63233  Size: SH
  1. Install the valve lifter(s) and the guide(s) to the engine. Refer to Valve Lifter Installation
  2. Notice: Make sure that the correct cylinder head gasket is used when re-assembling the engine. Failure to use the correct gasket may result in loss of engine performance or engine damage.

  3. Install the cylinder head(s) to the engine. Refer to Cylinder Head Replacement
  4. Connect the negative battery cable.
