Removal Procedure

J 39083 Glow Plug Connector Remover and Installer

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Remove the negative battery cables.
  2. Remove the glow plug lead wires using the J 39083 glow plug connector remover and installer.

  3. Remove the glow plugs (1) from cylinders 1, 3, 5 and 7. If a glow plug is damaged during removal, refer to Damaged Glow Plug Removal .

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 26774  Size: SH
  1. Install the glow plugs (1).
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the glow plugs to 17 N·m (13  lb ft).

  3. Install the lead wires to the glow plugs.
  4. Install the negative battery cables.
