Subject:Dealer Installed Regular Production Options (RPO) and Regular Production Accessories (RPA)

Models:2005 and Prior Passenger Cars and Light Duty Trucks
2005 and Prior HUMMER H2

This bulletin is being revised to add model years, the HUMMER model and update information regarding changes in filing claims for RPAs. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 01-00-89-015 (Section 00 - General Information).

Some regular production options and accessories (RPO/RPA) ordered and invoiced with new vehicles must be dealer installed during the pre-delivery inspection (PDI). These dealer installed components are either shipped with the vehicle or direct shipped from the accessory supplier [in Canada, shipped from the Parts Distribution Centre (PDC)]. In the USA, direct ship accessories include roof racks, running boards/assist steps, tonneau covers and bed liners. In Canada, direct ship accessories include roof racks, running boards/assist steps, lower body side moldings, grill guards and splashguards. In the future, additional accessories may be added to these lists.

When these accessories are shipped with the vehicle, dealers should follow normal vehicle receiving procedures to determine the following:

    • If the components are included with the vehicle
    • If the components are the correct part/color
    • If the components are in good condition and not damaged

New vehicle receiving procedures should be followed to document any discrepancies and to claim reimbursement.

Recently, GM has begun shipping some accessories directly from the supplier (in Canada, from the PDC). In these situations, the accessory is shipped to arrive at the dealership about the same time as the vehicle. In order to help identify which vehicle the accessory is intended for as well as avoid confusion with normally ordered SPO parts in the dealership parts department, the following information is included.

In the USA:

The shipping container includes a colored label indicating the model (Avalanche, Denali, C3) along with the words "Match with incoming production unit". Also included on the label is the vehicle order number and the VIN.

In Canada:

Included on the packing slip of the part will be the following note: "ATTN: THIS SHIPMENT OF P/N XXXXXXXX IS FOR A DEALER INSTALLED FACTORY OPTION(S) XXX, FOR A XXXXX. THE VEHICLE VIN IS XXXXXXXXXXXXX, YOUR FACTORY INVOICE NUMBER: XXXXXXXXXX, YOUR ORDER NUMBER: XXXXXXXX. PLEASE NOTIFY THE NEW CAR SALES MANAGER OF ITS ARRIVAL. THANK YOU. SPO CANADA HQ."

If the part is incorrect, damaged or never arrives, dealers in the USA should contact SPO SPAC at 1-800-433-6961, [dealers in Canada should contact SPO Parts Assistance Center (PAC) at 1-866-275-5832]. Replacement kits or parts will be sent by SPAC (PAC in Canada). NEITHER TRANSPORTATION OR WARRANTY CLAIMS SHOULD BE SUBMITTED IN THESE SITUATIONS.

The price of the accessory is included in the MSRP of the vehicle. When PDI includes dealer installed items (RPOs/RPAs) that receive add time, dealers will be required to submit a claim under Z6998. This change will allow for a more accurate warranty history of dealer-installed RPOs/RPAs.

*GM of Canada dealers must refer to GM Parts bulletins for details of specific vehicle accessory and RPO programs in effect. The GM Parts bulletin will specify whether installation is included in the PDI allowance or if the cost of installation is included in the gross dealer profit for the option.
