MI-TICS Injection Pump

2 Years/Unlimited Mileage Injection Pump Warranty

May use Exchange Pump or Optional Repair & Return (see Additional Guidelines)

Dealer E-mail or faxes pump request form (attached) to 4HE1 Injection Pump Program

5 Years/160,000 km (100,000 mi) *Emission Warranty (see Emission Warranty Definition below)

Repair and return through local Bosch® Service Station (see attached locations).

Important: When using the repair station option, the exchange must be completed and delivered to the repair station to verify warranty repair through Bosch®.

If any of the following conditions are found with the failed pump, the warranty will be voided.

    • Water in fuel system
    • Wrong fuel (gasoline)
    • Oil contamination (from lack of engine maintenance)
    • Tampering

Procedure

  1. Determine if it is necessary to replace the injection pump by following the diagnostic information in the Diesel Fuel Injection sub-section of the Isuzu Commercial Truck Service Manual. In order to determine if the pump is faulty, verify that the fuel control rack is moving properly by connecting the Tech 2® with the ignition key ON.
  2. The control rack sensor output voltage at 0% throttle should be 1.2 volts. Press down on the accelerator pedal to wide open throttle (WOT). The voltage should now increase to greater than 2.0 volts. If the voltage doesn't change from 0-100 percent throttle positions, then the pump is faulty. Record the test results as they will be required to complete the pump request form.

  3. When it is determined that an exchange pump is needed, use one of the two following options to request the exchange pump.
  4. Option 1 (U.S. only): Complete the electronic MD-TICS (6 CYL)/MI-TICS (4 CYL) INJECTION PUMP REQUEST form and E-mail to 4hip@partechgss.com. Retrieve an electronic copy of the MD-TICS (6 CYL)/MI-TICS (4 CYL) INJECTION PUMP REQUEST FORM from www.isuzutruckservice.com or from www.gmict.org.

Option 2: Complete the attached form and FAX to the 4H Injection Pump Desk at (USA: 1-800-672-9324) (Canada: 1-248-276-0188).

In either option, the 4H Injection Pump Desk will contact you to confirm that the request has been processed.

The 4H Injection Pump Desk will be available Monday through Friday from 8am-5pm (Eastern Standard Time). Contact the 4H Injection Pump Desk at (USA: 1-888-482-5828) (Canada: 1-248-276-0213).

Important: After the installation of the replacement or repaired pump, you must perform the TPS Relearn Procedure. Refer to Corporate Bulletin Number 02-07-30-025B for this procedure. Failure to perform this procedure may affect transmission shifting and perceived engine performance.

Important: A $3,000 core charge will be applied if not handled in a timely manner.

  5. The core must be returned from the dealer WITHIN 48 HOURS after the repair with all the vehicle information requested (see attached Injection Pump Return Procedures Form) to the address below.
  6. Robert Bosch Corporation

    2800 South 25th Avenue

    Broadview, IL 60155-4534

    Attn: REMB

    phone (708) 865-5625

  7. The following must be completed prior to returning the injection pump core to Bosch®.
  8. • Drain all of the fuel from the injection pump housing.
    • Reinstall all fuel and oil fittings and any other parts that may have been removed from the core.
    • Repackage the injection pump core as outlined in the return instructions that are supplied with the exchange injection pump.
    • Complete the core return procedure form and fax to the freight company (AIT Worldwide Logistics). The freight company will provide you with a bill of lading number for tracking purposes.

Additional Guidelines (Repair Station Instructions)

The pump exchange form must be completed and delivered to the repair station along with the injection pump. The repair station must have this information to validate any possible warranty. Once warranty is validated, the pump will be repaired at no cost to you.

During the Emission warranty, the repair station will perform repairs and bill the dealer for the pump repair. The dealer must then submit for reimbursement for the repair as a warranty sublet (see Submitting Warranty Claim).

When is it necessary for conditioning the injection pump? Usually, it doesn't require maintenance service if the vehicle is well maintained (such as regular oil/filter changes, frequent inspection, draining or replacement of the fuel filter and fuel/water separator).

The following engine failure modes, as defined by Isuzu, may affect the injection pump performance:

    • Major engine failure that results in heavy metal debris that resulted from bearing seizure, a broken connecting rod or cracked piston and liner.
    • A lack of lubrication that resulted in engine failure.
    • Stripped injection pump gears (may be more common in 1999 and 2000 MY vehicles).
    • A melted piston from over-fueling.
    • Excessive coolant mixed with engine oil.

In any of the above situations, the injection pump should be sent to a Bosch® Service Center (see attached MD-TICS Repair Stations locations) for flushing, cleaning, performance check and adjustment, if necessary, before it is reused.
