DEFINITION: Engine cranks over, ether will not spray into intake manifold.

Is the ambient temperature below the stated value?

-5°C

Go to step  3

Go to step 2

1. Remove vehicle to an area where the temperature is below -5°C (23°F).
2. Leave the vehicle until the engine coolant temperature is below -5°C (23°F)).

Is the coolant temperature below -5°C (23°F)?

Go to step 3

1. Remove the starter relay.
2. Connect a test lamp between terminal A at the ether injection/ engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor and chassis ground.
3. Turn the ignition switch to START.

Did the test lamp light?

Go to step 5

Go to step 4

Repair the open in CKT434 (Orn/Blk) between the ether injection/ engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor and splice S129.

Is the repair complete?

System OK

--

1. Remove the connector from the ether injection/ engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor.
2. Use a J39200 DMM between terminals A and B of the sensor.

Does the DMM indicate continuity?

Go to step 7

Go to step 6

Replace the ether injection/ engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor.

Is the repair complete?

System OK

--

1. Replace the connector on the ether injection/ engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor.
2. Connect a test lamp between terminal A at the ether injection control valve and chassis ground.
3. Turn the ignition switch to START.

Did the test lamp light?

Go to step 9

Go to step 8

Locate and repair the open in CKT1997 between the ether injection/ engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor and the ether injection control valve

Is the repair complete?

System OK

--

1. Remove the connector from the ether injection control valve.
2. Use a J39200 DMM between terminal B at the ether injection control valve and chassis ground.

Does the DMM indicate continuity?

Go to step 10

Go to step 11

Replace the ether injection control valve.

Is the repair complete?

System OK

--

Locate and repair the open in CKT150 (BLK) between the ether injection control valve and G102.

Is the repair complete?

System OK
