Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 401926 Size: SH
  1. Relieve the CNG fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .
  2. Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4. Disconnect the low pressure lock-off (LPL) electrical connector (10).
  5. Remove the harness clip from the mounting bracket.
  6. Disconnect the fuel lines.
  7. Remove the LPL outlet fitting.
  8. Remove the LPL inlet fitting (5).
  9. Remove the LPL-to-bracket mounting bolts.
  10. Remove the LPL.

Installation Procedure

Tools Required

J 41416 Ultrasonic Leak Detector

Important: Apply pipe thread sealant to the threads of the fuel inlet and the fuel outlet fittings before installation. Do not use Teflon® tape.

    Object Number: 401926 Size: SH
  1. Install the LPL solenoid (4) in the bracket. Align the inlet fitting port (5) to the CNG fuel inlet line.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the LPL mounting bolts.
  4. Tighten
Tighten the LPL mounting bolts to 12 N·m (108 lb in).

  5. Install the LPL inlet fitting (5).
  6. Tighten
Tighten the fuel inlet fitting finger-tight plus one to three turns.

  7. Install the LPL outlet fitting. Align the LPL outlet fitting to the LPL to LPR line (6).
  8. Tighten
Tighten the fuel outlet fitting finger-tight plus one to three turns.

  9. Connect the fuel line inlet fitting using a new O-ring face seal. Lubricate the O-ring with petroleum jelly or the equivalent.
  10. Tighten
Tighten the fuel line fitting to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  11. Connect the fuel line outlet fitting using a new O-ring face seal. Lubricate the O-ring with petroleum jelly or the equivalent.
  12. Tighten
Tighten the fuel line fitting to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  13. Install the harness clip to the mounting bracket.
  14. Connect the LPL electrical connector.
  15. Connect the negative battery cable.
  16. Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  17. Start the engine. Inspect for CNG fuel leaks at each serviced fitting using the J 41416 Ultrasonic Leak Detector.
