Passenger Side Mirror Slow to Dip When Reverse Gear is Selected (Middle East Only)

Subject:Passenger Side Mirror Slow to Dip When Reverse Gear Is Selected

Models:2009 and Prior Chevrolet Caprice, Lumina (Middle East Export)
Built Prior to 9L190934

Caprice and Lumina vehicles equipped with memory seats and mirrors have a feature which can be enabled that moves the mirror to a customer set position when reverse gear is selected.

After selecting reverse, the mirror should start moving after 0.5 seconds (if the feature is enabled).

After shifting out of reverse, the mirror should start to move back after three seconds.

Currently, under certain circumstances, the mirror can take excessively long before it starts to move.

This condition may be due to a software issue in the MSM (memory seat module) which is induced by clearing DTCs from the SIM (seat interface module).

Resetting the SIM corrects this concern.

Tech 2® software has been modified to reset the SIM after codes are cleared. Therefore, if DTCs are cleared using current Tech 2® software, this issue should not reappear.

Note: After clearing DTCs, it will be necessary to reinitiate the mirror dip feature as it will default to the "off" position after the DTCs are cleared. Refer to the Owner Manual for details on initiating this feature.
