Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement LHD

Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  2. Remove the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement .

  3. Object Number: 1959850  Size: SH

    Important: Note original position of the steering wheel and column assembly with regards to steering wheel height and reach.

  4. Release the steering column tilt lever.
  5. Fully lower the steering wheel and column assembly.

    Important: Do not use excessive force to separate the steering column trim covers.

    Important: Press the steering column upper trim cover lower edge towards the front of the vehicle and lift in order to disengage the front locking tabs (4).

  6. Unclip the face of the steering column upper trim cover (1) from the steering column lower trim cover (2).
  7. Important: Lift the steering column upper trim cover face and pull towards the rear of the vehicle in order to disengage the rear locking tabs (3).

  8. Remove the steering column upper trim cover (1).

  9. Object Number: 1959849  Size: SH
  10. Remove the steering column lower trim cover to steering column assembly retaining screw (3).
  11. Important: Do not use excessive force to separate the steering column lower trim cover from the mounting tabs (1).

    Important: Pull the steering column lower trim cover (2) towards the rear of the vehicle in order to disengage the mounting tabs (1).

  12. Remove the steering column lower trim cover (2).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1959849  Size: SH

    Important: Do not use excessive force to mount the steering column lower trim cover (2) to the mounting tabs (1).

    Important: Lift the column lower trim cover and press towards the front of the vehicle in order to engage the mounting tabs (1).

  1. Install the steering column lower trim cover (2).
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the steering column lower trim cover to steering column assembly retaining screw (3).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the screw to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

    Important: Do not use excessive force to secure the steering column upper trim cover (1).

    Important: Lower the steering column upper trim cover (1) and push towards the front of the vehicle in order to engage the rear locking tabs (3).

  5. Install the steering column upper trim cover (1).
  6. Important: Press down on the steering column upper trim cover front face in order to clip the front locking tabs (4) to the steering column lower trim cover (2).

  7. Clip the face of the steering column upper trim cover (1) to the steering column lower trim cover (2).
  8. Install the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement .
  9. Set the steering wheel and column assembly to the original position and lock the steering column tilt lever.
  10. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .

Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement RHD

Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  2. Remove the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement .

  3. Object Number: 1959838  Size: SH

    Important: Note original position of the steering wheel and column assembly with regards to steering wheel height and reach.

  4. Release the steering column tilt lever.
  5. Fully lower the steering wheel and column assembly.

    Important: Do not use excessive force to separate the steering column trim covers.

    Important: Press the steering column upper trim cover lower edge towards the front of the vehicle and lift in order to disengage the front locking tabs (4).

  6. Unclip the face of the steering column upper trim cover (1) from the steering column lower trim cover (2).
  7. Important: Lift the steering column upper trim cover face and pull towards the rear of the vehicle in order to disengage the rear locking tabs (3).

  8. Remove the steering column upper trim cover (1).

  10. Remove the steering column lower trim cover to steering column assembly retaining screw (3).
  11. Important: Do not use excessive force to separate the steering column lower trim cover from the mounting tabs (1).

    Important: Pull the steering column lower trim cover (2) towards the rear of the vehicle in order to disengage the mounting tabs (1).

  12. Remove the steering column lower trim cover (2).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1959839  Size: SH

    Important: Do not use excessive force to mount the steering column lower trim cover (2) to the mounting tabs (1).

    Important: Lift the column lower trim cover and press towards the front of the vehicle in order to engage the mounting tabs (1).

  1. Install the steering column lower trim cover (2).
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the steering column lower trim cover to steering column assembly retaining screw (3).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the screw to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

    Important: Do not use excessive force to secure the steering column upper trim cover (1).

    Important: Lower the steering column upper trim cover (1) and push towards the front of the vehicle in order to engage the rear locking tabs (3).

  5. Install the steering column upper trim cover (1).
  6. Important: Press down on the steering column upper trim cover front face in order to clip the front locking tabs (4) to the steering column lower trim cover (2).

  7. Clip the face of the steering column upper trim cover (1) to the steering column lower trim cover (2).
  8. Install the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement .
  9. Set the steering wheel and column assembly to the original position and lock the steering column tilt lever.
  10. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
