DTC B1023 00: Key Stuck

Diagnostic Fault Information

Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle .

Circuit/System Description

DTC B1023 00 is generated when an infotainment fascia button is pressed for a period greater than 60 seconds. When DTC B1023 00 is set one of more the buttons will be unavailable unless the button is released. Other buttons will remain functional.

Conditions for Running DTC

    • System voltage is between 9-16 volts.
    • Ignition switch is in the ON position.

Conditions for Setting DTC

If a particular button remains pressed for a period greater than 60 seconds, the button is considered stuck and a testFail condition will occur. If a particular pressed button is released before 60 seconds or if a stuck button is released, a testPass condition will occur. While a button is pressed and not yet considered stuck, other button presses will be ignored.

Action Taken When DTC Sets

The infotainment unit ignores continuous inputs from the button. The infotainment unit will not respond to the invalid inputs as a command for the component. The infotainment unit will respond to all other valid button inputs.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • The condition for setting the DTC is no longer present.
    • The history DTC will clear after 50 fault-free ignition cycles.
    • The DTC can be cleared using a scan tool.

Circuit/System Testing

  1. Inspect the infotainment fascia buttons for signs of damage, foreign objects. If foreign objects are the cause of the condition, clear the objects.
  2. If the button fails to function correctly, replace the infotainment fascia.
  3. Inspect the infotainment fascia buttons for signs of poor operation/sticking. Does the button stick for no apparent reason or operate poorly.
  4. If the button sticks for no apparent reason or operates poorly, replace the infotainment fascia.
  5. Using the scan tool, select the DTC display function. Verify that DTC B1023 00 is not set.
  6. If DTC B1023 00 is set, using the scan tool, read infotainment fascia button status, pressing several times. Verify the response from the infotainment fascia.
  7. If the infotainment fascia fails to respond, replace it.
  8. Using the scan tool, read infotainment fascia button status, pressing several times. Allow the infotainment system to operate for several minutes. Do not press any buttons during this time.
  9. If DTC B1023 00 is resets, replace the infotainment unit.
