DTC Descriptor

DTC U2202: No Communication With Rear Control Panel

Circuit/System Description

With the ignition in either the ACC position or the ON position the rear seat entertainment (RSE) interface module continuously sends a communication signal to the rear seat entertainment (RSE) control panel. Upon receiving the signal, the RSE control panel sends a reply signal, confirming that it can communicate. DTC U2202 will set to indicate the RSE control panel has not received a communication signal or replied when the RSE interface module has requested operation.

Conditions for Running the DTC

DTC U2202 runs continuously once a valid RSE control panel response occurs.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The RSE interface module does not receive a response from the RSE control panel after 3 consecutive communication attempts.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The rear seat entertainment system fails to operate.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • The current DTC will clear when the RSE interface module receives a communication reply from the RSE control panel.
    • The history DTC will clear after 50 fault-free ignition cycles have occurred.

Circuit/System Testing

  1. Verify that DTC U2202 is set.
  2. Ignition OFF, disconnect the audio/video interface module and RSE control panel harness connectors.
  3. Test the RSE interface module and RSE control panel; communication, power and ground circuits for short to ground or an open/high resistance.
  4. If the circuits do not test normal, repair or replace the effected circuit(s).
    If the circuits test normal, replace the RSE control panel.
  5. Using the scan tool, select the DTC display function. If DTC U2202 resets, replace the audio/video interface module.
