DTC Descriptor

DTC B2730 00: Endgate/Liftgate Handle Switch Circuit

Circuit/System Description

The body control module (BCM) initiates a rear compartment lid open event based on a ground input provided by the rear compartment lid release switch. When the rear compartment lid release switch is pressed the BCM receives the ground input and applies a ground output to the control side of the rear compartment lid release relay. Battery power is then supplied through the rear compartment lid release relay to the rear compartment lid latch assembly, activating the latch motor and opening the rear compartment lid.

Conditions for Running the DTC

Battery voltage must be between 9-16 volts.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The BCM detects a fault on the circuit for more than 60 seconds.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The BCM stores DTC B2730 in memory.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • The conditions for setting the DTC are no longer present.
    • A history DTC clears after 100 fault-free ignition cycles.
    • The DTC can be cleared using a scan tool.

Circuit/System Verification

Ignition ON, use scan tool Rear Compartment Lid Release output control to command the rear compartment lid open. The Rear Compartment Lid Release Relay Command output data parameter should display and the rear compartment lid should open.

Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the BCM harness connector X2 and test for a short to voltage, short to ground or an open/high resistance at terminal 10.
  2. Ignition ON, press the rear compartment lid release switch and test for a ground signal at the BCM harness connector X2, terminal 10.
  3. If the circuit tests normal replace the BCM.
  4. Ignition OFF, disconnect the rear compartment lid release switch and test for a ground signal at terminal B.
  5. If the circuit tests normal replace the rear compartment lid release switch.

Repair Instructions

Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verificationafter completing the diagnostic procedure.
