Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 33332  Size: SH
  1. Remove the shift control closeout boot. Refer to Shift Control Shift Closeout Boot Replacement .
  2. Remove the shift control bolts.
  3. Remove the control.
  4. Clean the old sealant from the housing and the shift control sealing surfaces.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 38411  Size: SH
  1. Apply a continuous 3 mm (0.125 in) bead of Gasket Maker on the extension housing-to-shift control sealing surface. Use GM P/N 12345739 or equivalent.

  2. Object Number: 33332  Size: SH
  3. Install the shift control.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the shift control bolts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the shift control bolts to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).

  7. Install the shift control closeout boot. Refer to Shift Control Shift Closeout Boot Replacement .
