Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the upper intake manifold. Refer to Upper Intake Manifold Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 439510  Size: SH
  3. Remove the O-ring seals (3, 4), if necessary.
  4. Remove the lower intake manifold bolts (1).
  5. Remove the lower intake manifold (2).

  6. Object Number: 439530  Size: SH
  7. Remove the lower intake manifold seals (1).
  8. Remove the lower intake manifold gaskets (2).

  9. Object Number: 349800  Size: SH
  10. If replacing the manifold remove the coolant temperature sensor.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 439530  Size: SH
  1. Install the lower intake manifold gaskets (2).
  2. Install the lower intake manifold seals (1).
  3. Apply sealant GM P/N 12346286, Canada P/N 10953472, or equivalent to the ends for the manifold seals (2).

  4. Install the lower intake manifold (2).
  5. Apply threadlock GM P/N 12345382, Canada P/N 10953488, or equivalent to the bolt threads before installing.
  6. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Install the lower intake manifold bolts (1).
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the lower manifold bolts (1) to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  9. Install the coolant temperature sensor.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the coolant temperature sensor to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  11. Install the upper intake manifold. Refer to Upper Intake Manifold Replacement .
