J 36660-A Torque Angle Meter

  1. Install the engine front cover gasket.

  2. Object Number: 345236  Size: SH
  3. Install the engine front cover.
  4. Align the cogs on the crankshaft sprocket with the cogs on the oil pump in the engine front cover.

  5. Apply sealant GM P/N 12346004 or equivalent to the engine front cover bolt threads.
  6. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Install the engine front cover bolts.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the engine front cover bolts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft). Use J 36660-A to tighten the engine front cover bolts an additional 40 degrees.

  9. Install the oil pan to engine front cover bolts.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the oil pan bolts to 14 N·m (125 lb in).

  11. Install the oil filter.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the oil filter to 19 N·m (14 lb ft).

  13. Apply sealant GM P/N 12345382 or equivalent to the crankshaft position sensor stud threads.
  14. Install the crankshaft position sensor.
  15. Tighten
    Tighten the crankshaft position sensor studs to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  16. Install the crankshaft position sensor shield.
