Exhaust Manifold Installation Left Side


    Object Number: 589361  Size: SH
  1. Install the exhaust manifold gasket to the cylinder head.
  2. Install the exhaust manifold to the cylinder head.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the exhaust manifold nuts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts 23 N·m (17 lb ft).

  6. Install the exhaust manifold heat shield.
  7. Install the exhaust manifold heat shield nuts.
  8. Tighten

        • Tighten the two end nuts to 23 N·m (17 lb ft).
        • Tighten the bottom nut to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  9. Install the engine lift hook.
  10. Important: Inspect the EGR inlet pipe for leaks. Replace the EGR adapter if the pipe leaks.

  11. Install the EGR inlet pipe to the exhaust manifold.
  12. Install the EGR inlet pipe bolt and nuts.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 50 N·m (36 lb ft) and the bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft) .

  1. Install the exhaust manifold gasket to the cylinder head.
  2. Install the exhaust manifold to the cylinder head.

  4. Install the exhaust manifold nuts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 23 N·m (17 lb ft).

  6. Install the exhaust manifold heat shield.
  7. Install the exhaust manifold heat shield nuts.
  8. Tighten

        • Tighten the two end heat shield nuts to 23 N·m (17 lb ft).
        • Tighten the bottom nut to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
