Burnish the new braking surface after the brake pads have been replaced and the rotors have been refinished or replaced.

Burnishing "breaks in" the new pads or rotors. Burnishing also removes light corrosion on the rotors.

Burnish the brakes by making 20 stops from 48 km/h (30 mph) using medium to firm pressure on the brake pedal. Allow 0.8 km (0.5 miles) between stops in order to avoid overheating the brakes.
