VIN'S: 1995 CHEVROLET CAMARO BEFORE VIN #S2128425 1995 PONTIAC FIREBIRD BEFORE VIN #S2210340

CORRECTION:

CUSTOMER COMMENTS ABOUT THIS CONDITION ON PAST MODEL (1993, 1994 AND EARLY 1995) CAN BE CORRECTED BY CREATING A NEW ATTACHMENT SLOT IN THE DOOR LOWER SURFACE AND INSTALLING THE NEW BUMPER AS INDICATED IN THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURE.

PROCEDURE:

MATERIALS REQUIRED: GM P/N 10274366 DOWN STOP BUMPER

1. REMOVE THE DOOR TRIM AS DESCRIBED IN SECTION 10-6 OF THE SERVICE MANUAL, AND CAREFULLY REMOVE THE DOOR MOUNTED SPEAKER/HOUSING ASSEMBLY.

2. LOCATE THE TEMPLATE (PROVIDED IN THIS BULLETIN) TO THE BOTTOM OF THE DOOR, AND DRILL A PILOT HOLE AT THE FRONT AND REAR HOLE LOCATIONS.

IMPORTANT: PRIOR TO DRILLING HOLES IN THE BOTTOM OF THE DOOR, RAISE THE DOOR GLASS TO THE FULL UP POSITION.

3. CREATE THE BUMPER MOUNTING SLOT USING THE FOLLOWING STEPS:

A. DRILL THE FRONT HOLE USING A 16.0 MM (5/8") BIT.

B. DRILL THE REAR HOLE USING A 9.0 MM (23/64") BIT.

C. CREATE THE SLOT PORTION BETWEEN THE HOLES USING EITHER A DIE GRINDER, SABER SAW, CUT OFF WHEEL OR OTHER SUITABLE TOOL.

4. INSTALL THE NEW DOWN STOP BUMPER, PART NO. 10274366 IN THE SLOT. NOTE: A LIGHT COATING OF A SOAP SOLUTION WILL ACT AS A LUBRICANT WHEN INSTALLING THE BUMPER.
