ATTENTION:

DEALER SERVICE MANAGER/ WARRANTY ADMINISTRATOR

THE PURPOSE OF THIS BULLETIN IS TO ADVISE RETAIL AND WHOLESALE SERVICE PERSONNEL OF CHANGES TO THE WARRANTY SYSTEM THAT WILL NOW ACCOMMODATE THE USE OF PANEL REPLACEMENT LABOR OPERATIONS FOR CORROSION WARRANTY REPAIRS.

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY, DEALERS WHO HAVE DETERMINED THAT THE MOST ECONOMICAL REPAIR, WHEN ADDRESSING CORROSION WARRANTY REPAIRS, IS TO REPLACE A PANEL, MAY NOW USE THE APPROPRIATE PANEL REPLACEMENT LABOR OPERATION (S0150 THROUGH S1881) WITHOUT HAVING TO USE AUTHORIZATION "A" FOR THE CORROSION REPAIR (FC-5W). THIS ALSO ELIMINATES THE NEED FOR DEALERS TO USE CORROSION PERFORATION LABOR OPERATIONS (S5050 THROUGH S5590) IN CASES WHERE A SHEET METAL PANEL REPLACEMENT IS THE MOST LOGICAL REPAIR.

GENERAL MOTORS BULLETINS ARE INTENDED FOR USE BY PROFESSIONAL TECHNICIANS, NOT A "DO-IT-YOURSELFER." THEY ARE WRITTEN TO INFORM THOSE TECHNICIANS OF CONDITIONS THAT MAY OCCUR ON SOME VEHICLES, OR TO PROVIDE INFORMATION THAT COULD ASSIST IN THE PROPER SERVICE OF A VEHICLE. PROPERLY TRAINED TECHNICIANS HAVE THE EQUIPMENT, TOOLS, SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS AND KNOW-HOW TO DO A JOB PROPERLY AND SAFELY. IF A CONDITION IS DESCRIBED, DO NOT ASSUME THAT THE BULLETIN APPLIES TO YOUR VEHICLE, OR THAT YOUR VEHICLE WILL HAVE THAT CONDITION. SEE A GENERAL MOTORS DEALER SERVICING YOUR BRAND OF GENERAL MOTORS VEHICLE FOR INFORMATION ON WHETHER YOUR VEHICLE MAY BENEFIT FROM THE INFORMATION.
