Exhaust Manifold Pipe Replacement 2.2L

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the catalytic converter. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement .

  3. Object Number: 180099  Size: SH
  4. Remove the exhaust manifold pipe to manifold flange bolts.
  5. Remove the exhaust manifold pipe from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 180099  Size: SH
  1. Install the exhaust manifold pipe and new seal to the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the exhaust manifold pipe to manifold flange bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the exhaust manifold pipe to manifold flange bolts to 30  N·m (22 lb ft).

  5. Install the catalytic converter. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement .
  6. Lower the vehicle.

Exhaust Manifold Pipe Replacement 4.3L

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  2. Object Number: 395694  Size: SH
  3. Disconnect the LH heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) electrical connection.

  4. Object Number: 395704  Size: SH
  5. Disconnect the RH heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) electrical connection.
  6. Remove the catalytic converter. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement .

  7. Object Number: 42940  Size: SH
  8. Remove the exhaust manifold pipe to manifold flange nuts.
  9. Remove the exhaust manifold pipe from the vehicle.
  10. Remove the heated oxygen sensors (HO2S) as necessary.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the heated oxygen sensors (HO2S) as necessary.
  2. Install the exhaust manifold pipe to the vehicle.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure.   4. Install the exhaust manifold pipe to manifold flange nuts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the exhaust manifold pipe to manifold flange nuts to 53  N·m (39 lb ft).

  6. Install the catalytic converter. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement .
  7. Connect the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) electrical connection.

  9. Disconnect the RH heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) electrical connection.

  10. Object Number: 395694  Size: SH
  11. Disconnect the LH heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) electrical connection.
  12. Lower the vehicle.
