  1. Using the scan tool, select Body Control Module.
  2. Select Data Display.
  3. Select Data List.
  4. Select OUTPUTS.

Does the REAR GATE/DOOR output indicate OPEN with the endgate/liftgate closed?

  1. Using the scan tool, select Body Control Module.
  2. Select Data Display.
  3. Select Data List.
  4. Select INPUT 1.

Does the REAR GATE/DOOR input indicate OPEN with the endgate/liftgate closed?

Go to Symptoms in Engine Controls - 2.2L or Symptoms in Engine Controls - 4.3L

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  2. Ensure that the gate is closed.
  3. Connect a DMM to ground.
  4. Backprobe the BCM connector C2 (BLU) terminal B10 (CKT 1303).

Is battery voltage present?

B+

Go to Step 10

  1. Access the gate ajar switch.
  2. Disconnect the gate ajar switch.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  4. Connect a DMM to ground.
  5. Backprobe BCM connector C2 (BLU) terminal B10 (CKT 1303).

Is battery voltage present?

B+

Go to Step 11

  1. Disconnect BCM connector C1 and connector C2.
  2. Remove terminal B10 from BCM connector C2.
  3. Reinstall BCM connector C2 and connector C1.
  4. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  5. using the scan tool, select Body Control Module.
  6. Select Data Display.
  7. Select Data List.
  8. Select INPUT 1.

Does the REAR GATE/DOOR input indicate OPEN with the endgate/liftgate closed?

Locate and repair a short to ground in CKT 1303 between BCM connector C2 terminal B10 and the gate ajar switch. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Replace the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .

  1. Replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.
  2. Reconnect all of the disconnected components.
  3. Program the BCM with the proper calibrations.
  4. Perform the Passlockā„¢ Learn Procedure using the scan tool.
  5. Using the scan tool, clear all of the DTCs.
