SUBJECT: TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAK (ADD TEFLON SEALANT TO BOLT)

MODELS: 1996 CHEVROLET AND GMC C/K, M/L, S/T, G MODELS 1996 OLDSMOBILE BRAVADA WITH 4.3L ENGINE (VINS W, X - RPOS L35, LF6) AND HYDRA-MATIC 4L60-E TRANSMISSION (RPO M30)

CONDITION: (FIGURES 1 AND 2)

SOME OWNERS MAY EXPERIENCE A FLUID LEAK AT THE CONVERTER HOUSING. STARTING NOVEMBER 4, 1995 (JULIAN DATE 308) ALL UNITS ARE BUILT USING A NEW BOLT WITH TEFLON SEALANT ADDED.

CAUSE:

CASE POROSITY.

CORRECTION: (FIGURES 2 AND 3)

DURING ANY PROCEDURE REQUIRING A TRANSMISSION REMOVAL, ONLY APPLY LIQUID TEFLON SEALANT (OR EQUIVALENT) TO THE CONVERTER HOUSING BOLT INDICATED IN FIGURES 2 AND 3. THE REMAINING SEVEN (7) BOLTS DO NOT REQUIRE SEALANT.
