INFO ON FRT. DOOR HINGE PILLAR PANEL & CENTER PILLAR OUTER

SUBJECT: INFORMATION ON FRONT BODY HINGE PILLAR PANEL AND CENTER PILLAR OUTER PANELS (COIN MARKS/NUT ADDED)

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1992 "L" CAR CHEVROLET CORSICA, BERETTA

Triangular shaped "coin" marks have been added to service replacement front body hinge pillar panels and center pillar outer panels to be used as reference points for drilling the required door hinge attachment holes. There are two coin marks per pillar. The top mark will indicate the area to drill the rear mounting bolt hole necessary to attach the upper hinge. The lower mark indicates the area to drill the rear mounting bolt hole necessary to attach the lower hinge. To locate the area to drill for the unmarked hole, use the appropriate door hinge strap as a template.

The correct procedure for reinstalling the door to the hinge pillar may be found in the Service Manual. When attaching a door to a new hinge pillar panel, use P/N 11514518 service only nut to secure the hinge strap to the pillar. The nut should be tightened to 20-28 N.m (15-21 lbs. ft.).

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
