Rear Spoiler Replacement Avalanche/Escalade

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Remove the endgate trim panel. Refer to Endgate Trim Panel Replacement.
  2. Remove the rear camera from the spoiler, if equipped. Refer to Rearview Camera Replacement.

Endgate Spoiler Nut (Qty: 2)

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

Tighten
9 N·m (80 lb in).

Endgate Spoiler Adhesive Tape

Caution: Refer to Exterior Trim Emblem Removal Caution in the Preface section.

Tip

  1. The part and surface should be 21°C (70°F) prior to installation. The vehicle should remain 21°C (70°F) for one hour after assembly to allow adhesive to develop sufficient bond strength.
  2. Use a J-25070 Heat Gun or equivalent, to remove the old spoiler. Clean all the adhesive residue from the endgate and wipe the surface dry with a clean lint-free towel prior to installing the new spoiler.
  3. When removing protective liners from adhesive backed spoiler , be careful not to touch the tape with hands and do not allow the tape to come in contact with dirt or any foreign matter prior to adhesion.
  4. Press the spoiler firmly to the top side of the endgate to ensure full adhesion is made to the endgate.
