Preliminary Procedure

Remove the transfer adapter from the transmission. Refer to Transfer Case Adapter Replacement for the BW 4485-NR3 transfer case or Transfer Case Adapter Replacement for the MP 3023/3024-NQH transfer case.

Output Shaft Seal

Procedure

1. Use the J 45000 to remove the seal. Use care in order to avoid damaging the output shaft bushing.
2. Lubricate the seal with clean transmission fluid.
3. Use the J 36183 to install the seal.

Preliminary Procedure

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
2. Remove the propeller shaft. Refer to Rear Propeller Shaft Replacement.
