Air Conditioning Evaporator Core Replacement Visteon

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the HVAC module. Refer to HVAC Module Assembly Replacement .
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the recirculation actuator.
  3. Remove the screws from the evaporator cover (1).

  4. Object Number: 826695  Size: SH
  5. Remove the evaporator cover (1) from the HVAC module assembly (2).

  6. Object Number: 826693  Size: SH
  7. Remove the evaporator cowl gasket (1) from the evaporator (2).

  8. Object Number: 826696  Size: SH
  9. Remove the evaporator core (1) from the HVAC module assembly (2).

Installation Procedure

    Important: If replacing the condenser, add the refrigerant oil to the evaporator core. Refer to Refrigerant System Capacities .

  1. Install the evaporator core (1) to the HVAC module assembly (2).

  2. Object Number: 826693  Size: SH
  3. Install the evaporator cowl gasket (1) to the evaporator (2).

  4. Object Number: 826695  Size: SH
  5. Install the evaporator cover (1) to the HVAC module assembly (2).
  6. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Install the screws to the evaporator cover (1).
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  9. Connect the electrical connector to the recirculation actuator (1).
  10. Install the HVAC module assembly. Refer to HVAC Module Assembly Replacement .

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 899652  Size: SH
  1. Remove the HVAC module. Refer to HVAC Module Assembly Replacement .
  2. If equipped remove the heat stakes (1) from the HVAC module (2) with a screw driver and a hammer.

  3. Object Number: 858910  Size: SH
  4. If equipped remove the screws from the HVAC module assembly.
  5. Remove the evaporator cowl gasket from the evaporator.
  6. Separate the upper HVAC module assembly (2) from the lower HVAC module assembly (1)

  7. Object Number: 858912  Size: SH
  8. Remove the evaporator core (1) from the upper HVAC module assembly (2).

Installation Procedure

    Important: If replacing the evaporator core, add the refrigerant oil to the evaporator core. Refer to Refrigerant System Capacities .

  1. Install the evaporator core (1) to the HVAC module assembly (2).

  2. Object Number: 858910  Size: SH
  3. Install the upper HVAC module assembly (2) from the lower HVAC module assembly (1)
  4. Install the evaporator cowl gasket to the evaporator.
