Does the system operate normally?

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Observe the Pedal Forward Switch and the Pedal Aft Switch parameters in the driver door module (DDM) Inputs data list.
  3. Operate the electronic adjustable pedals (EAP) switch in both directions.

Does the scan tool display the Correct Switch Status parameter in relation to the actual switch position?

  1. Disconnect the EAP motor connector.
  2. Connect a test lamp across the motor control circuit terminals in the harness connector.
  3. Operate the EAP switch in both directions.

Does the test lamp illuminate when the switch is operated in both directions?

  1. Disconnect the EAP relay.
  2. Test the EAP motor control circuits for an open or short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Connect a test lamp from the battery voltage supply circuit terminal in the EAP relay connector to ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Connect a test lamp from battery voltage to the EAP relay low side control circuit terminal in the harness connector.
  2. Operate the EAP switch in both directions.

Does the test lamp illuminate when the switch is operated in both directions?

  1. Connect a test lamp from the EAP relay forward control circuit terminal in the harness connector to ground.
  2. Operate the EAP switch in the forward direction.

  1. Connect a test lamp from the EAP relay rearward control circuit terminal in the harness connector to ground.
  2. Operate the EAP switch in the rearward direction.

  1. Disconnect the DDM connector C5.
  2. Test the resistance from the switch supply voltage circuit terminal to the EAP forward switch signal circuit terminal in the DDM harness connector.
  3. Operate the EAP switch in the forward direction.

Is the resistance at or near the specified value?

806 ohms

  1. Test the resistance from the switch supply voltage circuit terminal to the EAP rearward switch signal circuit terminal in the DDM harness connector.
  2. Operate the EAP switch in the rearward direction.

Is the resistance at or near the specified value?
