Open any door.

Do the exterior courtesy lamps operate correctly?

Go to Testing for Electrical Intermittents in Wiring Systems

Do the interior courtesy lamps illuminate?

Go to Step 4

Go to Courtesy Lamps Inoperative

  1. Disconnect the outside rear view (OSRV) mirror connector from the driver door module (DDM) or passenger door module (PDM).
  2. Test for continuity between the door exterior courtesy lamp supply voltage circuit and the door exterior courtesy lamp ground circuit of the OSRV mirror connector. Refer to Testing for Continuity In Wiring Systems.

Is continuity present?

Go to Step 6

Inspect the bulb for an open filament.

Is the bulb OK?

Go to Step 7

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the DDM or PDM. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 11

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the OSRV mirror. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the bulb. Refer to Outside Rearview Mirror Courtesy Lamp Replacement.

Replace the DDM or PDM. Refer to Control Module References in Computer/Integrating Systems for replacement, setup, and programming.

Replace the OSRV mirror. Refer to Power Mirror Replacement in Doors.

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
