Did you perform the Retained Accessory Power (RAP) Diagnostic System Check?

Go to Step 2

Go to Diagnostic System Check - Retained Accessory Power .

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. With the scan tool, observe all door jamb/liftgate switches.
  3. Open and close each door.

Does the scan tool display change from active to inactive?

Go to Step 3

Go to Diagnostic System Check - Lighting Systems .

  1. Close all of the doors.
  2. Turn the ignition ON with the engine OFF, then to the OFF position.
  3. Wait 10 minutes.
  4. If equipped, attempt to operate the sunroof after 10 minutes has elapsed. If the vehicle is not equipped with the sunroof option, the below question will be answered NO.

Does the sunroof operate after 10 minutes has elapsed?

Go to Step 4

With the RAP power mode disabled attempt to operate the radio.

Does the radio operate?

Go to Step 10

  1. Remove the sunroof relay.
  2. Test the output terminal of the relay socket for a short to voltage. Refer to Retained Accessory Power (RAP) Schematics for the correct circuit ID.

Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 12

Go to Step 6

  1. Connect a test lamp between the body control module (BCM) controlled terminal of the sunroof relay socket and a good ground.
  2. Close all of the doors.
  3. Turn the ignition ON with the engine OFF, then to the OFF position.
  4. Wait 10 minutes.
  5. Observe the test lamp.

Does the test lamp turn OFF after 10 minutes?

Go to Step 9

  1. Disconnect the harness connector from the BCM that contains the sunroof relay control circuit.
  2. With a test lamp connected between the BCM controlled terminal of the sunroof relay socket and a good ground turn the ignition ON with the engine OFF.

Does the light stay OFF at all times?

Go to Step 10

Go to Step 8

Repair the short to B+ in the BCM controlled sunroof relay control circuit.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 12

Replace the sunroof relay.

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 12

Inspect the BCM for the following conditions:

    • Poor connections
    • Intermittent faults

Refer to the following in Wiring Systems:

    •  Connector Repairs

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 12

Important: Setup and reprogram the module.

Replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 12

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Does RAP power mode function normally?

System OK
