Did you perform the Retained Accessory Power (RAP) Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Connect a scan tool.
  2. With the scan tool, observe all door jamb/liftgate switches.
  3. Open and close each door.

Does the scan tool display change from active to inactive?

Go to Step 3

Test the following circuits of the body control module (BCM) for an open or a short to ground:

    • Battery input voltage
    • Ignition input voltage
    • Ignition output voltage

Refer to the following:

    •  Body Control System Schematics in Body Control Systems
    •  Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems
    •  Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems

Did you find and correct condition?

Go to Step 10

With the RAP power mode enabled does the radio function but the sunroof does not?

Go to Step 5

  1. Remove the sunroof relay.
  2. Enable the RAP power mode.
  3. Test for the RAP signal between the sunroof relay socket and a good ground. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct condition?

Go to Step 10

  1. Remove the BCM harness connector containing the RAP supply signal circuit.
  2. Test the following circuits for a short to ground or open:
  3. • Sunroof relay control circuit ground--Test this circuit only for an open.
    • Sunroof relay contact circuits
    • RAP supply output signal circuit--Refer to Circuit Testing .
  4. Inspect for poor connections or terminal damage at the sunroof relay socket. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Refer to Retained Accessory Power (RAP) Schematics for the proper circuit IDs.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 10

Replace the sunroof relay

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 10

Inspect for poor connections or terminal damage at the BCM. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 10

Important: Setup and reprogram the module.

Replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.
