Did you perform the Lighting Diagnostic System Check?

Turn ON the reading lamps.

Does the system operate normally?

Go to Testing for Electrical Intermittents in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Do any courtesy lamps operate correctly?

Go to Step 4

Go to Courtesy Lamps Inoperative

Remove and inspect the bulbs.

Are the bulbs okay?

Go to Step 5

  1. Disconnect the reading lamp connector.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the courtesy lamps supply voltage circuit of the reading lamp and a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 6

Connect a lamp between the ground circuit of the reading lamp and a battery positive voltage circuit.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 8

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the bulbs. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 13

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the dome lamp. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open in the courtesy lamps supply voltage circuit between reading lamp and the body wiring harness junction block. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Repair the lamp ground circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the bulbs as necessary.

Replace the reading lamp assembly. Refer to Dome Lamp Replacement .
