Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Instrument Cluster ?

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Observe the seat belt indicator illumination during bulb check.

Does the seat belt indicator illuminate during bulb check?

Go to Symptoms - Seat Belts

Go to Step 4

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Unfasten the LF seat belt.
  3. With a scan tool, observe the seat belt buckled parameter in the instrument panel cluster (IPC) data list.

Does the scan tool indicate that the seat belt is unbuckled?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 6

Replace the IPC. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 11

  1. Disconnect the LF seat belt switch connector.
  2. With a scan tool, observe the seat belt buckled parameter in the instrument panel cluster (IPC) data list.

Does the seat belt parameter change state?

Go to Step 7

Replace the LF seat belt switch. Refer to Front Seat Belt Buckle Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 11

Test the signal circuit of the seat belt switch for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 11

Test the ground circuit of the seat belt switch for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Replace the body control module (BCM). Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.

Did you complete the replacement?

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
