DTC Descriptors

DTC C0292 02: VSES Combination Sensor Circuit Short to Ground

DTC C0292 07: VSES Combination Sensor Circuit Voltage Above Threshold

Circuit/System Description

The electronic brake control module (EBCM) supplies a ignition voltage of 12 volts to the yaw rate sensor/lateral accelerometer sensor. The sensor supply voltage is monitored via an internal feedback circuit to the EBCM microprocessor.

Conditions for Running the DTC

Ignition ON.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

C0292 02

The EBCM detects that the sensor supply voltage is less than 11.75 volts for 30 milliseconds.

C0292 07

The EBCM detects that the sensor supply voltage is greater than 12.25 volts for 30 milliseconds.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

    • The EBCM disables the traction control system (TCS)/vehicle stability enhancement system (VSES) for the duration of the ignition cycle.
    • The driver information center (DIC) displays the Service StabiliTrak message, AWD Off, and Service Brake Assist messages.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

The EBCM clears the history DTC when a current DTC is not detected in 100 consecutive drive cycles.

Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the yaw/lateral accelerometer sensor connector.
  2. Ignition OFF for 5 minutes, test for less than 10 ohms between the low reference circuit terminal 6 and ground.
  3. If greater than the specified range, test the low reference circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuits test normal, replace the EBCM.
  4. Ignition ON, test for 11.75-12.25 volts between the 12-volt reference circuit terminal 1 and ground.
  5. If less than the specified range, test the 12-volt reference circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the EBCM.
If greater than the specified range, test the 12-volt reference circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the EBCM.
  6. If all circuits test normal, replace the yaw/lateral accelerometer sensor.
