The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Some owners may comment that the SIR MIL is on and upon diagnosis technicians may find the SDM has dtc B0084 and/or B0085 stored. This concern could be caused by broken seat position sensor circuits under the driver or passenger front seats. Over time, from repeated seat movement the wiring could break. The wire/s may break inside the insulation or near the base of the seat connector (C305 or C399) which may make it difficult to see during a quick visual inspection.

Recommendation/Instructions:

Repair any broken or damaged circuits as described in SI.

Note: When repairing the wiring for the seat position sensor, it is important that the circuits are in the correct orientation between the sdm and sensor. The seat position sensor is not just an open or closed switch as depicted in SI2000. If the wires are reversed, the dtc will set.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
