Dealers play a key role in reporting product issues via Field Product Reporting. The information proves to be extremely important to the product problem resolution process. This bulletin will offer information on how to submit a VME Field Product Report (for US dealers only) or an electronic Product Information Report (for Canadian dealers only).

Submitting a Product Report

You should submit a product report anytime you encounter a product condition (i.e. repetitive conditions, PDI concerns, quality issues, etc.). Timely communication of your concerns is important and contributes to quick product resolutions. Listed below are some other guidelines on when to submit a report:

Guidelines for Submitting a Report

    • Report on any year vehicle.
    • Report issues concerning a new product/component launch.
    • Report conditions noted at pre-delivery inspection (PDI).
    • Report emerging issues (multiple occurrences of the same problem).
    • Report any issues that result in a "walk home."
    • Report on current issues that are covered by a published bulletin, when the published procedure does not correct the condition.
    • Report on ongoing product issues that we are aware of but aren't resolved if you have new or additional information.
    • Report on any repair that is not easily understood by reviewing labor operation usage.
    • Report on serviceability issues.
    • Report a first time occurrence of a problem that is a customer annoyance.
    • Report on product problems concerning parts received from GM Service and Parts Operations.
    • Do not include personal opinions in product reports. State only the facts. If including a personal opinion, please identify the comment as such.
