The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Some owners may comment of no audio from both of the RSE (Rear Seat Entertainment) and GM Accessory Headrest DVD infrared head phones.

Recommendation/Instructions:

A compatibility issue has been identified when installing a GM Accessories Headrest DVD System on a vehicle already equipped with the factory (OEM) Rear Entertainment System (RPO U42).

The driver's side headrest and the factory system both operate on Channel A. When both systems are installed on the same vehicle, the signals cancel each other out and the audio is muted

Therefore, GM Accessories Headrest DVD Systems should not be installed on vehicles already equipped with the factory (OE) Rear Entertainment System.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
