Subject:2003-2004 Cadillac/Chevrolet/GMC/Hummer H2 All Full Size Trucks and Utilities DIC Only Reads Driver 1 Regardless Of Which Key Fob Is Used

Models:

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in the PI.

Condition/Concern:

Some owners may comment on the DIC reading only "driver 1" regardless of which key fob is used.

Recommendation/Instructions:

This is design intent if the vehicle does not have steering wheel controls RPO "UK3". The DIC will only change the driver designation if the vehicle is equipped with steering wheel controls.

Note: On vehicles with steering wheel controls, the DIC can change between "driver 1", "driver 2" and "driver 3". The vehicle is capable of programming 4 different key fobs. Since the DIC will only display 3 drivers, when fob number 3 or 4 is used the DIC will display both as "driver 3".

Note: A vehicle does not have to have memory seats RPO (AN3) to have Steering Wheel Controls RPO (UK3).

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
