00 - 05 Chevrolet , Buick , Oldsmobile and Cadillac Mid-Size and Full Size Truck/Utilities SIR Light On Steady After Bulb Test and No DTCs - kw 01-09-41-003 MIL lamp latch lock module

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in the PI.

After SIR lights self test, SIR light remains on with no DTC’s stored. This would typically occur on a new vehicle that just arrived on a car carrier. If this is noticed and no DTC's are stored, it should be suspected that the vehicle was never cleared during DVT testing at the plant.

Using the Tech 2, follow the procedures below.

Select "model year"

Select "LD Truck"

Select "Body"

Select either "C", "K", "S" or "T"

Select "Supplemental Inflatable Restraint"

Select "Special Functions"

Select "Clear Manufacturer Enable Counter" and press "Enter"

If the procedure is necessary (still in assembly mode from the plant), the Tech 2 will display "Test Complete". The SDM will now be out of assembly mode. If the procedure is not necessary (no longer in assembly mode), the Tech 2 will display "Procedure is not required". This indicates that the SDM was not in assembly mode during this test.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
