The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom described in the PI.
Condition/Concern:
Customers may comment that the ashtray will not stay closed. It may be found that the spring clip which holds the ashtray closed has broken or become weak.
Recommendation/Instructions:
If the spring clip has broken or become weak, the spring clip is available part number 89045008. Please do not order the complete lower I/P trim panel (Document ID number 829034) to obtain the spring clip.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance.
