Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 701194  Size: SH
  3. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
  4. Important: Cap or plug the ends of the power steering hoses to prevent fluid loss.

  5. Disconnect the power brake booster inlet hose from the power brake booster.

  6. Object Number: 361686  Size: SH
  7. Disconnect the power steering cooler hose from the power steering pump.

  8. Object Number: 701477  Size: SH
  9. Disconnect the power steering pump remote reservoir hose from the power steering pump.

  10. Object Number: 309287  Size: SH
  11. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  12. Remove the power steering pump rear mounting bracket nut.
  13. Lower the vehicle.
  14. Loosen the power steering pump bracket bolts and nut.
  15. Pull the power steering bracket bracket (1) forward.

  16. Remove the power steering pump mounting bolts.
  17. Remove the power steering pump and the power brake booster inlet hose from the vehicle.
  18. Remove the power brake booster inlet hose from the power steering pump.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 284251  Size: SH
  1. Install the power brake booster inlet hose to the power steering pump.
  2. Install the power steering pump and the power brake booster inlet hose to the vehicle.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the power steering pump mounting bolts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering pump mounting bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  6. Reposition the power steering pump bracket (1) and tighten the bolts and nut.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the accessory mounting bracket bolts and nut to 41 N·m (30 lb ft).

  8. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  9. Install the power steering pump rear mounting bracket nut.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering pump rear mounting bracket nut to 41 N·m (30 lb ft).

  11. Lower the vehicle.

  13. Uncap the ends of the power steering hoses.
  14. Connect the power steering pump remote reservoir hose to the power steering pump.

  15. Object Number: 361686  Size: SH
  16. Connect the power steering cooler hose to the power steering pump.

  17. Object Number: 701194  Size: SH
  18. Connect the power brake booster inlet hose to the power brake booster.
  19. Tighten
    Tighten the power brake booster inlet hose to the power brake booster to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  20. Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
  21. Install the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement .
  22. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
  23. Inspect the power steering pump for leaks and the hoses for proper clearance from the frame and from other components.
