Removal Procedure

  1. Release the park brake.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  3. Object Number: 913335  Size: SH
  4. Relieve the tension on the park brake cables by loosening the nut at the adjuster.
  5. Disconnect the cable at the equalizer.

  6. Object Number: 930615  Size: SH
  7. Remove the cable from the mounting bracket by depressing the locking tabs.

  8. Object Number: 930609  Size: SH
  9. Remove the cable at the shock absorber bracket by removing the bolt.

  10. Object Number: 913564  Size: SH
  11. Remove the cable from the backing plate by depressing the locking tabs.
  12. Remove the cable from the lever.
  13. Remove the cable.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 913564  Size: SH
  1. Install the cable taking care to correctly route the cable through the guide and the bracket.
  2. Install the cable to the lever.
  3. Install the cable to the backing plate by pressing the cable into place until locking tabs snap into place.

  4. Object Number: 930614  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the cable at the shock absorber bracket and install the bolt.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).

  7. Install the cable to the mounting bracket until the locking tabs snap into place.

  8. Object Number: 913335  Size: SH
  9. Connect cable end to the equalizer.
  10. Remove the safety stands and lower the vehicle.
  11. Adjust the park brake cable. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment .
