J 46406 Fan Clutch Wrench

Removal Procedure

    Caution: To help avoid personal injury or damage to the vehicle, a bent, cracked, or damaged fan blade or housing should always be replaced.

  1. Remove the upper fan shroud. Refer to Engine Coolant Fan Upper Shroud Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 48321  Size: SH
  3. Remove the fan clutch using theJ 46406 in a counter clockwise direction.
  4. Remove the fan clutch assembly from the vehicle.
  5. Remove the four bolts retaining the fan blade to the fan clutch.
  6. Remove the fan blade from the fan clutch.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 48321  Size: SH
  1. Install the fan blade to the fan clutch.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the four bolts retaining the fan blade to the fan clutch.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).

  5. Install the fan clutch assembly using theJ 46406 in a counter clockwise direction.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the fan clutch assembly to 56 N·m (41 lb ft).

  7. Install the upper fan shroud. Refer to Engine Coolant Fan Upper Shroud Replacement .
