Did you review the Wiper/Washer operation and perform the necessary inspections?

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Use a DMM in order to backprobe from CKT 143 (YEL) cavity E4 at the steering column connector C201 to ground.

Does the voltage measure near the specified value?

B+

Go to Step 3

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the front wiper/washer switch at connector C201.
  3. Turn the front wiper/washer switch to the LO position.
  4. Use a DMM in order to measure the resistance of the front wiper/washer switch from CKT 96 (GRY) cavity E5 to CKT 143 (YEL) cavity E4 at the C201 connector.

Does the resistance measure within the specified range?

600ohms-750ohms

Go to Step 5

Repair the open in CKT 143 (YEL).

Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

  1. Ensure that the DMM is still connected.
  2. Move the front pulse wiper/washer switch from the LO position back through all of the delay settings one step at a time down to the maximum delay setting.

Are the resistance readings within 20% of the specified values respectively?

    • 30K
    • 68K
    • 150K
    • 240K
    • 430K

Replace the front wiper/washer switch.

Refer to Multifunction, Turn Signal and Hazard Switch Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column - Standard Turn Signal and Multifunction Switch Assembly - Disassemble - Off Vehicle Turn Signal and Multifunction Switch Assembly - Assemble - Off Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column - Tilt.

Did you complete the replacement?

  1. Reconnect the front wiper/washer switch at the C201 connector.
  2. Disconnect the front windshield wiper motor and module.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Turn the front wiper/washer switch to the LO position.
  5. Connect a DMM between CKT 96 (BRN) cavity E at the front windshield wiper motor and module and ground.

Does the voltage measure near the specified value?

B+

Go to Step 9

Replace the front wiper/washer switch.

Refer to Multifunction, Turn Signal and Hazard Switch Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column - Standard Turn Signal and Multifunction Switch Assembly - Disassemble - Off Vehicle Turn Signal and Multifunction Switch Assembly - Assemble - Off Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column - Tilt.

Connect a DMM from the front windshield wiper motor and module CKT 143 (YEL) cavity C and ground.

Does the voltage measure near the specified value?

B+

Connect a test lamp between CKT 750 (BLK) cavity B to CKT 143 (YEL) cavity C at the front wiper motor and module.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Use a DMM in order to backprobe the front wiper/washer switch at the C201 connector CKT 96 (BRN) cavity E5 to ground.

Does the voltage measure near the specified value?

B+

Repair the open in CKT 143 (YEL).

Replace the front windshield wiper motor and module.
