Backup Lamp Inoperative - One Lamp Domestic

Did you perform the Lighting Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Disconnect the inoperative lamp.
  2. Engage the parking brake.
  3. Place the ignition switch in the RUN position.
  4. Place the shift lever in the REVERSE position.
  5. Connect a test lamp from CKT 24 (LT GRN) cavity A at the inoperative lamp socket to ground.

Does the test lamp light?

Go to Step 3

Inspect the condition of the lamp socket and check for the following possible conditions:

    • Bent or damaged terminals
    • Damaged connector
    • Corroded or rusted terminals

Is the lamp socket in proper condition?

Go to Step 4

Repair the open in CKT 1350 (BLK) or CKT 1450 (BLK) between the inoperative left side or right side backup lamp and ground G400 or ground G401 respectively.

Is the repair complete?

--

Go to Step 7

Repair the open in CKT 24 (LT GRN) between the inoperative lamp and splice S321.

Is the repair complete?

--

Go to Step 7

Replace the lamp socket.

Is the repair complete?

--

Go to Step 7

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Did you correct the condition?

  5. Connect a test lamp from LT GRN (24) wire cavity A at the inoperative lamp socket to ground.

Does the test lamp light?

    • Check condition of socket
    • If OK, locate and repair open in BLK (550) wire between inoperative lamp and S411

Is repair complete?

Go to Step 5

Locate and repair open in LT GRN (24) wire between inoperative lamp and S410.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 5

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Did you correct the condition.
