Important: A short to ground will cause an open fuse(s). Before performing this diagnostic procedure, inspect the fuse(s) for an open.

Did you perform the Instrument Cluster System Check?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Disconnect the instrument cluster connector and remove the connector comb.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  4. Turn the headlamps ON.
  5. Turn the IP dimmer switch (thumb wheel) to the maximum brightness.
  6. Backprobe in order to prevent damage to the terminal with a digital multimeter (DMM).
  7. Measure the voltage between CKT 8 (GRY) wire cavity A7 and ground.

Does the DMM display battery voltage?

Locate and repair the open CKT 8 (GRY) to the instrument panel cluster (IPC).
