Do the courtesy lamps stay illuminated beyond the 10 second timeout?

  1. Open the left or right front door.
  2. Remove the inoperative courtesy lamp bulb.
  3. Use a J 39200 DMM in order to measure the resistance between terminal B of the courtesy lamp connector and ground.

Is the resistance measured within the specified range?

0-2 ohms

Go to Step 3

Use a J 39200 DMM in order to measure the voltage between terminal A of the courtesy lamp connector and ground.

Is the voltage measured equal to the specified value?

B+

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 6

  1. Use a J 39200 DMM in order to backprobe the left IP junction block connector C2.
  2. Measure the resistance between terminal A2 and ground.

Is the resistance measured within the specified range?

0-2 ohms

Go to Step 7

Replace the courtesy lamp.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Use a J 39200 DMM in order to backprobe the left IP junction block connector C1 (left courtesy lamp) or connector C2 (right courtesy lamp)
  2. Measure the voltage between terminal E9 (left lamp) or terminal C9 (right lamp) and ground.

Is the voltage measured to the specified value?

B+

Go to Step 8

Repair the open in CKT 156 between the courtesy lamp and the left IP junction block. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Repair the open in CKT 1732 between the left IP junction block and the courtesy lamp. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the left IP junction block.

Repair the short to ground in CKT 156 between the BCM and the courtesy lamps. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
