Important: A short to ground will cause an open fuse(s). Before performing this diagnostic procedure, inspect the fuse(s) for an open.

  1. Turn the headlamp switch to the PARK position.
  2. Turn the panel dimmer switch to full intensity.
  3. Backprobe the right IP junction block with a test lamp between CKT 8 terminal of the inoperative lamp and ground. Refer to the schematic.

Does the test lamp light?

  1. Disconnect the inoperative lamp connector.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the CKT 8 terminal of the inoperative lamp connector and ground.

Does the test lamp light?

Go to Step 4

Replace the right IP junction block.

Is the repair complete?

Connect a test lamp between the CKT 8 terminal of the inoperative lamp connector and the ground terminal of the inoperative lamp connector.

Does the test lamp light?

Go to Step 6

Repair the open in CKT 8 between the right IP junction block and the inoperative lamp. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Replace the inoperative lamp.

Repair the open in the ground circuit between the inoperative lamp and the ground splice pack. Refer to the schematic. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
