Hazard Warning Switch Replacement Pontiac

1. Remove the Instrument panel accessory trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement .



2. Remove the screws from the switch retainer bracket.



3. Remove the retainer bracket from the accessory trim plate.



4. Remove the flasher and switch from the switch retainer bracket use a small flat-bladed tool in order to depress and release the flasher retainers, while pressing the flasher and switch out with your thumb.



5. Remove the flasher and switch from the switch retainer bracket.

1. Position the flasher and switch to the switch retainer bracket.



2. Install the flasher and switch to the switch retainer bracket pressing into place until fully seated.



3. Position the retainer bracket to the accessory trim plate.




Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

4. Install the screws to the switch retainer bracket.

Tighten
Tighten the switch retainer bracket screws to 3 N·m(27 lb in).

5. Install the instrument panel accessory trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement .

Hazard Warning Switch Replacement Oldsmobile

1. Remove the center air louver deflector.
2. Remove the instrument panel (IP) cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .



3. Remove the hazard warning switch bezel from the IP using a small-flat bladed tool to release the retainers.



4. Remove the left side bolt from the hazard warning switch through the IP cluster pocket.



5. Remove the right side and center lower bolts from the hazard warning switch through the center air louver deflector pocket.



6. Reposition the hazard warning switch from the IP to access the electrical connector.



7. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the hazard warning switch.
8. Remove the hazard warning switch from the IP.

1. Connect the electrical connectors to the hazard warning switch.



2. Position the hazard warning switch to the mounting points in the IP.

3. Install the left side bolt to the hazard warning switch through the IP cluster pocket.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 3 N·m(27 lb in).




4. Install the right side and center lower bolts to the hazard warning switch through the center air louver deflector pocket.

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 3 N·m(27 lb in).




5. Install the hazard warning switch bezel to the IP pressing into place until fully seated.
6. Install the IP cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
7. Install the center air louver deflector.
