Removal Procedure
- Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
- Apply and release the brake pedal several times until the pedal becomes firm to deplete the power vacuum brake booster vacuum reserve.
- If equipped with the 4.4L engine, remove the intake manifold sight shield. Refer to Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement.
- If equipped with the 4.6L engine, remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement.
- Disconnect the vacuum brake booster check valve and hose assembly (1) from the power vacuum brake booster.
- Disconnect the vacuum brake booster vacuum hose (1) from the engine.
Installation Procedure
- Connect the vacuum brake booster vacuum hose (1) to the engine.
- Connect the vacuum brake booster check valve and hose assembly (1) to the power vacuum brake booster.
- If equipped with the 4.4L engine, install the intake manifold sight shield. Refer to Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement.
- If equipped with the 4.6L engine, install the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement.
A small amount of denatured alcohol may be used as a lubricant to ease installation, if necessary.
